My twenty-eight year old boyfriend is going to be having surgery done in a few weeks. He is having his tonsils removed and have a deviated septum fixed. However, he suffers from sleep apnea and is terrified to be put under anaesthesia. He is afraid that his body is not going to be able to wake himself up when he stops breathing? Is there anyone who has been under anaesthesia, and has sleep apnea. Or knows someone who has? I am trying to find a way to make him feel more comfortable with the situation. Thanks!
I was wondering what some of the psychological effects of a sleep apnea is? I haven’t had the test done to see if I in fact have a sleep apnea, but are these symptoms a possibility of a Sleep Apnea?
-Tired ALL day every day
-Headaches
-Very tired in the morning, as if I didn’t sleep at all
-Anxiety/depression
-Feeling sick all the time
-Worrying about my health all the time
-Wake up extremely thirsty
-Chest or abdominal pains
-Paranoia to a certain extent
-Urinating a lot at night/morning
Anything else to suggest this? Also, what does a Sleep Apnea test consist of?
I have a good friend who suffers from type 1 (not caused from being overweight) Diabetes, Restless Leg (he thinks) and (also thinks this causes severe) Sleep Apnea.
My friend is 33 yrs old, thin, doesn’t smoke, works wayyy to much, doesn’t do cardio, and doesn’t sleep enough.
I’m so worried about him and pray for him all the time that he will get better. He isn’t going to the doctor for his sleep disorders or restless leg but I can’t make him.
After a sleep study monday night ,it was determined that I have obstructive sleep apnea. In a one hour period I had 117 episoids. I was givin a cpap machine today and was wondering for those of you who have had sever apnea who have tried the cpap how much of a difference has it made in how you feel and what were your symptoms prior to the cpap and how are they now. my grandpa had sleep apnea and passed away fromit. he was having gastro surgery and stopped breathing and passed away. my dad has it and has to wear a mask to bed every night. what are my chances of me or my brother or sister having it?
I have just learned I have Sleep Apnea and have to use a CPAP machine. I’m on my 4th night and just cannot get used to all this. I know I’m expecting too much too soon, but it’s already breaking my face out. I feel like I’m in traction! Can anyone offer any comforting advice, tips or anything positive? I am really trying to have a positive attitude, but it’s hard. Thankyou!
well I discovered on my own recently that I have a mild case of sleep apnea, but as far as I know, its only a problem when I lay on my back. Well my mom has the same problem and it’s only bad for her when she lays on her back too. But I was wondering what would be the best treatment for this? Position therapy and/or a mouth piece? I really need help with this because I have to convince my mom that both me and her should be seen for it and treated. Thank you!
