I just had a cpap titration for my sleep apnea, is that machine something you get used too?
I went to this and slept for about three hours and that’s it, was my first time using this machine.
I feel pretty rested and think I could get used to using it I am just trying to get the opinion of people who currently use this machine.

Daniel, Can you say life changing??? I did my sleep cpap titration over 5 years ago this June and I can tell you that you just did the hardest part, I have used my CPAP for over 5 years non-stop. When I travel if I have nothing else, I have my machine, that includes my wife. I do not know what mask you will pick, but that will be something that you will have to choose, I use the Mirage Swift Mask, and I love it. It offers in my opinion, more flexibility and I purchased the extended hose for about $18.00, not to expensive? Great move, one you will not regret. Congratulations!!!
It take some time but it will save your life. I use mine faithfully otherwise I feel horrible.
I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea several years ago. I went to the sleep study and the tech told me that they would monitor me for the first four hours and then, if needed, he would wake me up to put a CPAP on my and then continue monitoring me for the remaining four hours. Three hours in, he came in and told me that he couldn’t allow me to go another hour and put the CPAP on me. I later found out that I had never gotten past stage two sleep and had 273 hypopneas and apneas in that three hours. I went back to sleep and had the sensation of no time elapsing as I slept for five hours. I spent over 2-1/2 hours of it in stage 5 (REM) sleep. I woke up feeling more refreshed than I had in as long as I could remember. I then pushed my doctor to get me my prescription so I could get my CPAP and mask. I’ve been using a Resmed RemStar with C-Flex for the last four years with a Respironics Comfort Gel nasal mask and I can no longer sleep without it. It is life changing and wonderful. I dropped 12 pounds because I had so much more energy and starting doing so many more things than I did before. If your pressure is over 13, I would highly recommend the C-Flex style machine as it allows you to have the machine pressure drop up to 3 CC’s of H2O while you exhale making the use of the machine far more comfortable. I would also recommend the Sulivan heated humidifier for your home machine. It’s large but has the most surface area of water (by far) than any other heated humidifier making for a much more consistent humidity level while sleeping keeping your airway from becoming irritated. I have the humidifier designed for the CPAP for travel because it’s so much smaller but I love my Sulivan at home or if I’m traveling to a single location for more than a week. Good luck and I’m sure you’ll do fine. You are coming into this with the right attitude.
