Sleeping apnea questions!?
I think I have it!
For the past two days now I go to bed around 12 and wake up about every 2-5 secounds feeling dizzy and i need to catch my breath. Then I take an advil and go to bed and I am fine, at least think I am.
I read online and it said that people over weight get this. I am not overweight. I am 14 and I weigh about 115 pounds. And you need your tonsils removed? I got mine removed when I was 4!
Is there any other treatments they can give me?
There is two kinds of this, right?
obsturctive and central.
It says for obsturctive that the air flow is blocked. What is it blocked by?
and how can you tell which one you have?
Thanks so much, I am really worriedd!

I am 16 and healthy. I was tested for it and I had it. For years i would wake up at 2- 3 am. Book a doctors appointment for it and find out.
Also, if it just has been a day or 2 of doing it then I think you will be fine. If it continues book a doctors appointment.
To determine whether or not you have sleep apnea, you would have to spend a night in a Sleep Clinic. Your family doctor can refer you. I’ve been to one and you check in about 8-9 pm, get into your pj’s and when you feel ready to sleep, they wire you up so they can monitor your breathing patterns, blood pressure, respirations, snoring, twitching, etc. The wires are a bit annoying but they don’t hurt and aren’t uncomfortable……just inconvenient for changing sleep positions. They usually wake you between 6-7 am and discharge you. If you do have apnea, they will probably suggest you get a CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) machine with mask that you wear at night when you sleep. It will keep your airway open and you’ll get a much better night’s sleep.
If you go to a sleep doctor the first thing they will ask you is if you snore. Have someone else in your house observe your sleep and see if you are snoring or seem to be struggling to breathe at night. If when someone watches your breathing at night it seems as if you are snoring or struggling you certainly need to see a sleep specialist.
