My husband has diabetes and Sleep Apnea. Can you tell me if you have diabetes can this cause you to have Sleep Apnea?

I have been using the cpap for about 6 months and still don’t feel refreshed after a good 7-8 hours of sleep.

I have noticed that when he has an earache he has more problems with the sleep apnia..Thank you

I am getting my soft palate reduction, adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy at the same time.

I have a couple of questions, i would rather have the general public address than the doctor. Because all the doctor can give me is statistics and ‘rare’ occassions.

Is bleeding of the throat prevalent after the surgery?
I heard i would not get my original voice back after the surgery, how true is this?
Would i lose weight, after the surgery?
How long would i have to go without solid food?
Should spicy food be avoided at all costs, after the surgery?
Would i be more prone to infections and allergies after the surgery?

I had surgery on my sinuses to correct sleep apnea. I felt much better at first but soon i started feeling tired all over again. My doctor says that can sometimes happen – that the surgery is sucessfull at first but then it becomes obvious that it didnt solve the problem. Now i will have to wear one of thosse CPAP machines, and also my doctor thinks that i also have a circadian rythm disorder – so i have 2 sleep disorders. Ack!

Before even knowing my husband had sleep apnea he very odd/strange dreams as if he was a Indian or grizzly bear.After finding out about the sleep Apnea and getting the machine to help him breath at night,he does not have those dreams anymore. Has anyone had similar dreams like that and we were wondering why this happens is it lack of breathing air at night?

There is a dental device you can get molded to fit your teeth & mouth that will place your lower jaw forward while you are sleeping. If you have problems with your muscles in the back of your throat relaxing and making you snore or have apnea, then this should help open the airway so you can breathe better.

I know there are cheap molds you can buy online, but they don’t last long and may be tricky to get the right fit (you have to boil the plastic in water to soften it and then put it in your mouth to mold it). I’m thinking of getting it professionally done by my dentist. It would be about $700 and would last for years. It could also be adjusted in increments.

I live in Seattle. My sleep doctor has prescribed a Bi-PAP and I use it, but he will not do his job. He knows it isn’t producing good results. He mentions no “out-of-network” providers or alternatives. He doesn’t address all the problems I’m having. I have increased the pressure settings, with his knowledge, and am getting a second opinion from Virginia Mason Sleep Clinic. Apria, as a DME, is unacceptable. Numerous machines they provided, all Respironics, have broken. I dug up Lincare, on my own and went to their Seattle office last week. They fixed my mask, told me of other products I had learned of in the past few weeks on my own -without my asking. The bulk of my info on apnea and its treatment has come from newsgroups and sites dedicated to sleep disorders.

I use a saline solution daily.
Does ANYONE have ANY ideas or know of any other providers, DMEs, etc who can help? Please excuse the shouting & please help.

She has this black head strap and the hose is just ugly. I’d like to find something that she can cover them with to kinda dress them up and make it more appealing.
Actually, my wife put me up to asking this! She doesn’t Play on the computer! But it think it is more of a fashion issue than a mental issue. I did check out www.dressupsbybrenda.net and told my wife about it. She said it was an answer to her prayers!! She is going to order a few sets and she is really excitted!
