I have my 2nd sleep study tonight and I know they will hook me up to the machine for breathing but I am wondering how it went for other people. I am nervous about how the heck I will be able to sleep with this ‘top gun’ mask on.
Has any one had the surgery for obstructive sleep apnea. Were thay cut your soft pallet, your uvula, and tonsils. If you have had it or know some one that has. Did it help. And what was the recovery. Did it change your voice. And any think els I should know before I go get cut up.
I’m trying to figure out how many people are buying CPAP systems and masks today and how much this is changing.
I see number like 18M people have OSA (up to 50-60M with some type of sleep issue), and the industry is growing at 8.4%, but what’s driving this? Increase diagnosis & treatment, shift demographics, more marginal suffers seeking treatment, or just newer, more expensive equipment?
Any help would be great. Cited sources would be even better!! Thanks!!
I had septoplasty they think I have scarring that is now causing sleep apnea how is that possible my roof of my mouth vibrates and my snoring increased after the septoplasty. What happened? He is doing a sleep study but cant you tell some other way?
Is this a sign of a bad surgeon? Move septum vibrates too and the roof of mouth only when I sleep? Im not fat it was the surgery

Ok so Ill jsut be sleeping and randomly every once in a while ill wake up not breathing. somtimes it happens when im sick and other times it will happen out of the blue.
I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea in October 2003. I have been using a CPAP machine ever since. I started out at an air pressure of 9, but over time ended up at a pressure of 14. Back in January of this year (2007), I began following a steady exercise program and lost fifteen pounds. My doctor had me re-evaluated through another sleep study, and my pressure was reduced to the original pressure of 9. I am sleeping better and feeling better. I view my sleep apnea as being a result of my overweight body, and because I was able to lower my pressure through exercise and weight loss, is it possible to “cure” my sleep apnea if I keep on exercising and losing weight?
I didn’t think about it before, but there a probably people reading my question who don’t know what sleep apnea is, much less what a CPAP is. Here are a couple a links: http://www.sleepdisorderchannel.com/osa/

Yes, I still have my tonsils. The doctor I see for my sleep apnea has not mentioned my tonsils as being part of the problem. He mostly centers on weight loss and is happy whenever I report any amount of loss. He’s very encouraging.
SIMPLE means without using cumbersome respiratory machines or surgery… EFFECTIVE means that it truly works…
