My boyfriend and I have been living together for quite a while now and although he snores sometimes (which is obviously normal), he makes these weird noises sometimes and it worries me to the point of waking him up just to get him to breathe normally.

The only way to describe what it sounds like is this…he sounds like he holds his breath (not just stops breathing like in sleep apnea but literally takes a breath and holds it) and then when he exhales, he does so with his throat half closed, making the sound of someone with asthma gasping for air but he’s exhaling, and when he breathes back in after that his throat is open so I know it’s just the position of his throat and not asthma or any kind of blockage.

My son has obstructive sleep apnea and needs open-heart surgery to help get rid of the pressure in his lungs, I have heard that having a breathing tube in for the amount of time that the surgery is will cause complications when trying to remove it after…. is this information valid??

After reading the information regarding the benifits and complications drinking distilled water over a long period of time, made me think about using it in the humidifier for my breathing machine. Is there enough exposure over a long period of time to be concerned about. If so, is there any other options to concider. Thanks

Snoring, swollen tonsils and loud breathing?

Im asking this question for my parents.

My 7 year old sister has been snoring, loudly, for over a year. I can hear it in my room with the fan on and she’s across the hall. Her tonsils are constantly swollen, they now cover her throat but they don’t bother her when she talks or swallows food. She also breathes loudly, not so loudly you can hear it across the room, but if she’s sitting next to you, you can hear it.

She’s healthy, no constant ear infections (I had that growing up), she did have strep throat on and off for about three months last spring, but that’s been it. She’s very active, not overweight and her growth is very normal.

I was wondering if my lungs are more likly to get emphysema

I just woke up with a dry nose and dry throat. I could hardly breath through my nose and my throat felt tight. My heart was pumping. I was having a nightmare too.
I went for a sleep study test for sleep apnea. They said if I lost around 10 pounds it would help. They did not prescribe the sleep apnea device. However, another doctor said they did not do the entire test.

I have to be honest. I don’t’ know what I will do when I have colds and my nose is stuffed up. I feel my throat tightens sometimes. I also feel my bottom jaw is too small. I have to push it forward to breath correctly.
