I haven’t been diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure I have sleep apnea. I wake up several times a night gasping for air after snoring for a bit. (So says my bf). I was just wondering if poor sleep can cause weight gain, even if you get plenty of exercise and eat well?

My son is 2 years old and still doesn’t talk, not even babble. They thought it was his hearing since his tamponogram never spiked, but he has passed the hearing screaning 4 of the 6 times we’ve been there. They are now wanting to do a sleep study on him to rule out sleep apnea because it is thought to cause speech delays. Has anyone heard of this? What would be the reasoning behind it if it is true? I just don’t think he has any signs of sleep apnea, but they said with him tossing and turning throughout the night and his speech delay we should check. What do you think?
Trust me, he gets talked around and communicated with, he is in speech therapy and child development classes. They are concearned because nothing is working, we work VERY hard at communicating with him, but have resorted to sign language as it is his only way of communicating.

20 years old… I am having a sleep study at the end of the month and my doctor is pretty sure I have sleep Apnea, as I am tired all the time and snore really badly. But for the past 4-5 years Ive been experiencing really bad depression and anxiety. This past year has been the worse, as I moved to a new state and my anxiety has turned into what might be social anxiety. I feel nervous and paranoid around people. Always thinking they don’t like me and that they are talking bad about me. Do you think the sleep apnea could have caused this, as I’ve had this sleep problem since I was a child.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? How does one overcome this problem? (I have also been diagnosed with a deviated septum, but elected not to have surgery.) Would having the surgery help?

I am a female in my late 30s, slightly overweight but not obese (5’5, 148 pounds). Recent sleep test showed NO sleep apnea but did show that I woke up 30+ times (without knowing it) (even after having taken a sleep aid). Only stay in REM for 7 minutes.
Any thoughts? Doctor suggested sleeping pills but that obviously didn’t work even during the sleep test. It’s gotten worse – I think I’m sleeping through the night but wake up exhausted.
