When sleep apnea is first diagnosed, whether it’s you, a friend, or family member, the explanation can be a bit startling. Luckily, the remedy is fairly simply and generally effective. And, fortunately, there are many great resources available online to help, from sites that help you get the best fit for a CPAP mask to others that offer checklists for talking to your doctor about distressing symptoms.A diagnosis of sleep apnea must be made by your internist or family practitioner, who may even refer patients to a sleep specialist before a final diagnosis is made. But if you think you or someone in your home may have this condition, general articles about sleep apnea symptoms can be quite helpful as a reference when starting the conversation with your doctor. Here are some places to start:

The American Sleep Apnea Association has a site loaded with articles and videos as well as tools to assess your symptoms and tips for finding resources locallyThe Mayo Clinic website has a nice general overview of classic symptoms, related conditions, causes, and treatmentsType “sleep apnea” into Google

Are you having trouble sleeping? Do you wake up feeling un-rested? You might want to think about getting tested for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when you get so relaxed during sleep that the throat passage closes and you stop breathing until you wake yourself up. The word “Apnea” is derived from the Greek language meaning “without breath”. People with this disease use a CPAP machine.

A CPAP machine is a small device that helps you breathe. It sits by your bedside and quietly sends air pressure through a tube into a mask attached to your face. The pressure will force air into your air passages and allow you to breathe evenly throughout the night without waking up.

CPAP machines, standing for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, were actually first invented while experimenting with household vacuums blowing air into patients’ airways at different levels of pressure. Dr. Colin Sullivan invented them in 1981 at the University of Sydney in Australia. It helps with fatigue, blood sugar problems, blood pressure and other conditions. It also helps with snoring. If you have been known to rattle some doors then this machine may be able to help you by pressing back the soft tissue in your air passages.

If sleep apnea is not treated it can lead to heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure or diabetes. If you notice yourself having symptoms such as difficulty focusing during the day, constant fatigue or if you experience irritability then you may want to get tested.

To be considered apneic, you have to stop breathing for at least 10 seconds per attack and have a blood oxygen desaturation level of three to four percent. If you stop breathing five or more times per hour then you can be diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. It is important that it is treated to prevent danger.

Of course machines like CPAP machines may not cure this disease for everyone. It can only help improve sleep to help reduce or prevent the risk of severe health problems. It may be uncomfortable, and take some getting used to but it is a good investment.

Some complaints from using this machine are discomfort, chafing, and claustrophobia. If you are uncomfortable because of the air pressure you will be able to adjust the level of pressure until you can work up to where you need to be for it to be fully effective. It does take some getting used to for many people. Chafing can be taken care of with nasal and facial cushions that attach to the mask. It might soften the sides of the mask so they don’t dig in to your skin. Also, there are different styles, sizes and shapes of masks for you to try. Claustrophobia may take a little more effort. Try holding the mask up to your face without the strap at first until you can get used to it. Just nasal masks or masks just for your mouth may help you with feeling a little freer as well.

CPAP machines can save lives. It is just up to you whether you are willing to take the first step.

When you have been told that you have sleep-disordered breathing, or sleep apnea, you may be a little baffled by the myriad of sleep apnea treatments that are available. If you have medical insurance, your doctor may be quick to prescribe a traditional CPAP (continuous positive airway pressurization) machine and sleep apnea mask, and although they can certainly work in many cases, most people who get them don’t use them for too long. They are uncomfortable, make getting to sleep harder, and they aren’t exactly romantic in the bedroom. There are also alternatives such as ADAM CPAP (airway delivery and management) machines.

The ADAM CPAP machines are very new. Given that this field of study and treatment is developing so rapidly, there will likely be something even better in 6 months! There are many different types of sleep apnea treatments available, and not all of them have to come from your doctor. Sleep apnea is essentially a problem with the way you breathe when you sleep. Many people who have this disorder can go up to a minute, or even longer, without taking a breath while they are sleeping. And, when they do finally take that much-needed breath, they do it with a loud snort that wakes them – and everyone else – up.

If this sounds like you, or you have been told that you do this at night, you might want to take a look at some of the new and/or alternative treatments that are available before you make a considerable investment in an expensive sleep apnea mask such as the ADAM CPAP. One sleep apnea treatment that works for many people is simply to lie on their side instead of their back when they sleep. By lodging a pillow or two behind yourself, you will be unable to roll onto your back and your breathing will be much more steady.

Another way to reduce the symptoms of this disorder is to stop drinking alcoholic beverages at night. Although it would make sense that alcohol makes you tired, it also prevents you from breathing properly during the night.

Do you use continuous positive airway pressure for sleep apnea?.So how do you feel about it?. Some people complain because it is very unpleasant,so they end up trying a no mask alternative cure for sleep apnea.

Sleep disorder can make you feel tired all the time. You will drink too many coffee just to stay awake and it is very hard.

I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, and I was surprise about it. I have a job that require me to work long hour, so I attributed my fatigue due to high stress.

Most of us think that fatigue is a normal reaction of the body after a long hour of work. So that is the reason why sleep disorder is very hard to detect, it is left untreated for many years. The only time it can cause an alarm is when you experience a serious health issues. There are 3 level of sleep apnea severity. It can be mild, moderate and severe. If you are suffering from a mild case, the management is behavioral modification or change of lifestyle. For example if you are overweight. You need to lose some weight. You can also try changing the sleep position, avoid sleeping in your back.If you try to stop smoking this will lessen the swelling of the upper airways, that can decrease snoring and apnea.

But if you have a moderate to severe case of apnea. It will require some surgery. Surgery for sleep disorder are commonly associated with physical problem. For example,if you have a deviate septum. This will cause nasal congestion, nose bleeding and frequent sinus allergies. And if you have an enlarge tonsil. It is difficult to breath and swallow. A small lower jaw or over bite can be a problem. It can strain your jaw, and it is difficult to eat.

If you are thinking about surgery, to cure your sleep apnea try a sleep study first, and you need to be well inform about the possible outcome and effect of the surgery. But if you like to try the natural method, you just need to set goal and have discipline to change lifestyle.

Sometimes, some people don’t like the idea of surgery because of certain risk and some people don’t like to use face mask because of allergic reaction, it does not fit properly or they develop a headache and ear pressure in the long run.

There can be no doubt about the fact that good sleep is essential to maintaining good health. But so many factors contribute to sound sleep. Most prominent among these is effortless breathing.

Interruptions in the breathing process create disturbances in sleep, which may even be life threatening. This disorder in breathing is called Sleep Apnea. A number of measures and practices are followed to correct this potentially critical disorder.

The Treatment’s backgroundContinuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is such a treatment, which was first formulated for correcting Sleep Apnea. But currently it is also used for patients who require intensive care and in those with respiratory failure and chronic pulmonary diseases.

AdvantagesThe advantage of a CPAP Sleep Apnea device is that it can easily be used in the home, treating the patient during their normal sleeping process.. It provides a continuous supply of oxygen through a mask and tube, which are connected to the machine. The mask is fitted on the face of the patient. This continuous supply ensures smooth airflow through the nose. The method is preferred for both obstructive and central Sleep Apnea.

In patients with Sleep Apnea, the muscles of the nose will often be almost rigid restricting the flow of air through the nasal track. This rigidity repeatedly wakes up the patient disturbing his/her sleep. When CPAP is used this distress is eliminated with the invariable & continuous supply of air. The CPAP device applies pressure and changes the position of the tongue. This opens up the throat and providing adequate space for air passage.

After thorough examination of each patient, a pressure value is prescribed for the CPAP Sleep Apnea machine. A typical CPAP machine provides pressure up to 4 and 20 cm. This type of treatment is better for people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Since CPAP is a medical device, it should only ever be considered after seeking proper medical advice.

The face mask and the pressure of the air supply being unfamiliar most patients take time to adjust to the machine. CPAP devices of different types and prices are available according to the requirement of the patient and the advice of the doctor.

Advantages:

Sleep apnea in layman’s term is described as a state of the body when the respiratory procedure stops for almost ten seconds during his sleep. This can happen up to four hundred times during the course of a single night’s sleep, and can have serious recursion son the health of the person sometimes even leading to death if it is not treated properly.

The cause of his peculiar disease varies from being hereditary to a unhealthy lifestyle system. Smoking, drinking, fatigue, stress and many other such reasons are responsible for sleep apnea. It can give rise to your blood pressure level, cause distraction in your work, make you feel irritated and even cause a accident while driving.

It’s obvious that sleep apnea is a serious problem. if you want a permanent solution then you can opt for surgery, however if you think your problem is not very critical then you can go for various sleep apnea machines like CPAP, or BiPAP.

Both these sleep apnea machines have the same function. They help the patient to breath by forcing the air into his nostrils by means of a air tight mask that is secured severely on his face by the help of elastic bands. The two most popular machines that are used to treat this disorder is known as CPAP machine and the BiPAP machines.

The CPAP is widely recommended for people who have mild sleep disorders. It works on a one way mechanism and helps a person to inhale the air. it is cost effective and is also portable which makes it a good choice for mild sleep apnea patient.

However if you re patient of some kin d of heart disease then BiPAP is the ideal choice for you because it work s on two way mechanism. It maintains the pressure while breathing in and breathing out of the air. In case a person happens to miss his breath for a certain period of time the BiPAP forces air into hi s mouth, to reestablish the regular breathing procedure. BiPAP also give a patient much more comfort because pressure inside the face mask is controlled.

There is advanced form of CPAP machine known as ACAP which automatically adjust the amount of pressure that should be used during the respiration process, so that the patient is relieved from exerting high amount of pressure during normal breathing procedure.

The utility of the sleep apnea machine are also enhanced by the use of various machine accessories like a humidifier, breath counter, cotton face masks, mask liners etc, to make the experience more soothing for the patient.

Article by Chris Vasta

Just the thought of having a discussion on the subject of health care can lead to a migraine. Unless you have been living in a cave, it has been at the forefront of the national debate for months. If you agree with it or not, health care and the way Americans approach health care decisions have changed. Health care obviously impacts every citizen from cradle to grave. Not wanting to delve into the deep morass of the debate, let’s look at some of the potential changes for the sleep therapy device market.

Currently, if a person is diagnosed with sleep apnea by a physician after undergoing a sleep study, the patient will be provided a script for a CPAP machine and accessories such as a CPAP mask. Generally, insurance will pay some portion of your CPAP machine cost once a deductible is met. Patients then tend to purchase a CPAP machine and supplies from a medical equipment supplier who is associated with the doctor or sleep lab which provided the testing. Traditional home medical equipment providers typically charge well over 00 for a basic CPAP machine. CPAP masks, filters, tubing, CPAP mask headgear are all charged separately. Conversely, Medicare requires sleep apnea sufferers to rent a CPAP machine for 13 months in order to determine if apnea treatment is necessary and compliance is continuing. Of course, sleep apnea does not go away unless lifestyle changes are made and continued. So compliance data will need to be accessed by the CPAP machine provider in order for the patient to continue its use.

If all this seems complicated, it will probably not change much under the new health care initiative. A sleep study will continue to be required by private insurance or Medicare in order to be covered for a CPAP machine and supplies. Medicare will still require strict compliance monitoring for it to continue paying for a CPAP machine, mask and supplies. One change which most likely will occur is private insurance’s willingness to pay for CPAP equipment. Given the significant increase in patients who are diagnosed with sleep apnea, private insurance will possibly increase deductibles or reduce coverage altogether. They will also follow Medicare’s lead by strictly following guidelines on compliance.

Depending on one’s point of view, it might not be all bad. If insurance companies are required to provide preventive medicine including advice on well being, the need for CPAP machines might decrease which ultimately can reduce premiums. Bringing understanding and awareness to people suffering from sleep apnea will also help to fight its causes primarily obesity. Nevertheless, people with sleep apnea have a choice on where they can purchase their sleep therapy equipment. When it comes to sleep apnea and CPAP machines and supplies, patients should evaluate the most valued solution relative to their situation. There are many CPAP machine choices with varying levels of technology. There is also a plethora of CPAP mask choices to satisfy even the most fickle sleep apnea suffer. Some CPAP equipment providers offer few choices and some offer everything.

When it is time to make a purchase, sleep apnea patients should evaluate all their options including what it will cost with and without insurance. Choice allows for flexibility when it comes to purchasing CPAP equipment. With deductibles increasing and compliance critical, buying CPAP equipment out of pocket might be less expensive than going through an insurance company. Purchasing a CPAP machine and mask outside of insurance can cost anywhere from 0 – 00. With an insurance deductible of 00, the sophisticated consumer could make a case that it makes more sense to buy the CPAP equipment outright. However, some level of responsibility will rest on the apnea patient to choose their CPAP equipment provider wisely. Overall, the long term benefits could outweigh any potential risks.

Many people erroneously believe that sleep apnea is no more than a snoring practice. It is correct that the state is demonstrated through snoring, however, the problem is more deep rooted than that. Sleep apnea is a condition where collapsed tissues in the airway cause breathing cessation while one sleeps. These episodes can last anywhere from 1 second to 30 seconds and can occur many times during the night. This results in interrupted sleep and the ultimate lack of oxygen getting processed throughout the body causing serious health problems over the long term. The good news is that the sleep apnea condition has been successfully treated over the past 20 years with Continuous Positive Airway (CPAP) Devices and an apnea mask.

Some of the signs of sleep apnea include, excessive snoring, continuous interrupted sleep, and choking or gurgling sounds during sleep. Additionally, many people are overweight or have excessive skin tissue around their throat area. Inadequate sleep:

Sleep Apnea victims essentially have what can be expressed as superficial sleep, distinguished by persistent disruptions in sleep. They never obtain the full share of sleep that the human body needs to recover. The consequence is that their days are interspersed with frustration and tiredness. Additionally, some folks unintentionally fall asleep during the daytime. While it is bad if they do it when they are dusting the house or studying a book, the consequences can be far worse if it occurs when an individual is driving an automobile. Existing statistics demonstrate that car accidents are more prevalent among those with an sleep apnea trouble.

Sleep deficiency can also lead to common exhaustion, awkwardness, and inadequate focusing on the job at hand. This will influence the person’s workplace or educational accomplishment, and make them fruitless and less result oriented.

Sleep depressed people have a tendency to eat too much causing many sleep apnea sufferers to gain unnecessary weight. The joint result of all these will make an individual nervous and bad-tempered. Ill temper swings are not unusual and anxiousness occurs much of the time.

Oxygen shortage:

Sleep apnea hinders the body’s oxygen absorption. Because inhalation is often blocked or obstructed due to collapsed tissues in the airway, proper amounts of oxygen are not absorbed into the body. To balance for the lack of oxygen, the cardiovascular system will be put under additional strain in an effort to produce more oxygen. This can cause the heart to work excessively and ultimately lead to high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular troubles.

The Solution: CPAP and Apnea Mask

In the event you feel there is the least clue of a sleep disorder, it is imperative you get the trouble checked right away by your doctor. It is a treatable state, and there are lots of treatments to cure it, including surgery. The most popular form of treatment is the application of Continuous Positive Air Pressure device (CPAP) and apnea mask. The CPAP device uses air pressures to force open blocked airways. An apnea mask is strapped or attached either to the user’s nose, mouth, or both and the air pressure is delivered from the CPAP compressor through tubing into the apnea mask which sends the air into the block airway.

CPAP machines are prescribed by your Doctor. In order to be diagnosed with sleep apnea, your Doctor will send you to a Sleep Laboratory for a couple of nights of testing to determine if you are actually having the apnea episodes. In the event it is discovered that you have sleep apnea, you will then be fitted with a CPAP device and apnea mask to correct the apnea situation.

CPAP therapy has a very successful record at fighting sleep apnea and most insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid routinely pay for the treatment. Thus, if you suspect you have sleep apnea, you should really ask your Doctor to see if CPAP therapy could help you. After all, not only does it curb serious health problems, but, for many of its users they finally get a restful night’s sleep for the first time in years!

If you have been told that you snore more than the average person, or that you make loud snorting sounds in the middle of the night, it is likely that you have sleep apnea. The only real way to find out is to go to a sleep clinic and have the clinicians diagnose you while you are sleeping. If they notice that you are not breathing in a regular fashion, or if you are holding your breath and then snorting to get a breath, you probably will be looking for sleep apnea treatments.

There are numerous treatments on the market, and one of the most popular is the sleep apnea mask. An ADAM CPAP (airway delivery and management) mask is a very recent development in sleep apnea treatment. The mask (like most others) fits around your nose and mouth and with the help of the CPAP (continuous positive airway pressurization) machine forces you to breathe while you are asleep. As well as it works, it is often difficult to keep in place at first, and no one looks very good when they have it on! If you are looking for a little romance in the bedroom, you will want to wait until the lights are off before putting on your ADAM CPAP, or you might want to find alternative sleep apnea treatments.

One often overlooked treatment method for sleep apnea is changing ones lifestyle and sleep habits. Heavy or tolerance-pushing alcohol drinking can adversely affect sleep apnea. Regarding sleeping position, making sure you are sleeping in your side and not on your back can also have a positive effect on sleep apnea. When you are on your back, your tongue tends to fall back in your mouth and block your airway. But, when you are on your side, you will breathe easier, and hopefully more regularly.

If you have been told by your spouse or a family member that you are snoring loudly in your sleep, have them watch you one night and see if you are breathing regularly. If you aren’t, visit a doctor to get your problem diagnosed and start looking at sleep apnea treatments that can get you on the road to health and a good night’s sleep. For more information on ADAM CPAP equipment, just “google it.”

If you are like one of the 18 million people that suffer from sleep apnea then you know the discomfort that this condition can have on your life in general. It is not unusual for you to wake up several times a night because you may have stopped breathing for periods of 20-30 seconds at a time. Sleep apnea will lead you to have disturbed sleep all through the night. The good news is that millions of people are successfully treating sleep apnea with medical devices such as CPAP Machines that are designed to give you a better night’s sleep and reduce your sleep apnea events.

Sleep apnea is a condition where you stop breathing while you sleep, and if left untreated, could possibly cause more serious and even life threatening side effects. Excessive sleepiness during the day and heart failure are just a couple of the things that you will have to be careful of while dealing with this condition. Let’s face it; we spend a significant portion of our lives sleeping, it is important to make sure that we address any sleeping disorders with a sense of urgency.

CPAP Machines

CPAP machines or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Devices are designed to ensure that you have a constant flow of air going into your lungs. This machine is equipped with a compressor (about the size of a shoe box) and sleep mask that is usually worn over the nose while the person breathes through their mouth at night. Air delivered from the compressor and mask forces the “obstructed airway” to open up and gives the person the ability to breathe and sleep. CPAP Machines are typically used for people who are diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (the most prevalent form of sleep apnea).

It is worth noting that CPAP machines and sleep masks can be a little uncomfortable to use at first. It will take several days to weeks in order to get fully adjusted to using this device. This has forced makers of these devices to make improvements to the design and implement features to try and make them more comfortable. For most people using CPAP Machines, their key to compliance is finding a comfortable mask.

Bi-PAP Machines

The next device is called a Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure machine or Bi-PAP for short. Unlike its counterpart the CPAP, a Bi-PAP not only pushes air into the body, but, relieves the air pressure (via sensors) so that exhalation can occur more easily. Because of the extra sensors that regulate the air pressures, Bi-PAP machines are much more expensive than there cousin the CPAP machine, but the level of relief is greater and more effective for those that have difficulty exhaling. Typically, Bi-PAP machines are used for people who suffer from the Neurological condition called Central Sleep Apnea (which is fairly rare).

Paying Sources, the Rx, and Sleep Study

The good news is that most major insurance companies and Medicare will pay for the cost of CPAP machines and Bi-PAP’s. However, they do require a prescription from your doctor and extensive pre-testing in order to qualify for their use. In fact, such testing typically involves a two night Sleep Study test that is performed at a Sleep Lab in order to determine the official diagnosis of sleep apnea.

These are just two of several methods that are used in the treatment of sleep apnea. Regardless of the method that you choose, you will need to do your homework and talk to your doctor so that the two of you will be able to figure out which treatment is best for your condition. While there are other methods that are out there to help in the treatment of sleep apnea, it is important to note that these two medical devices are the most effective and popular.

Happy dreams to you and have a good night’s sleep.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition in which your breathing stops for a very brief moment during routine sleep due to a narrowing or blocking of the airway. People may sometimes be experiencing many hundreds of these apnea episodes, or interruptions in breathing, through a single given night. Most people identified as having this medical condition, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), have a significant problem with snoring. Snoring becomes a problem either for themselves or for a partner, spouse or another family member with whom they’re sleeping. There are many different popular treatments for obstructive sleep apnea patients to get the condition under control, including snoring and apnea episodes. Oral appliances, or OAs, open the upper airway typically by pulling up as the OSA patient inhales and exhales. This will make the airways less narrow, which minimizes snoring and, purportedly, apnea episodes as well. Another major treatment for OSA patients is with the usage of continuous positive airway pressure machines. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines actually send forced air through the airways, keeping them open to prevent apnea and minimizing snoring. Obviously, there is much debate concerning the various treatments for obstructive sleep apnea and which yields the best results. In some instances, the patient may experience less apnea episodes (which is a good thing), but then experience more snoring or additional negative effects. Investigation by scientists and professionals in the medical community has been conducted, especially over the past decade, to compare the effectiveness of CPAP versus other treatments like oral appliances. CPAP Machines At Work Before diving into the myriad of research projects scientists have carried out with obstructive sleep apnea individuals and CPAP technology, you have to first understand how CPAP works to get sleep apnea along with other symptoms, like snoring, under control. Most of the time in sleep apnea patients, the physiological cause of snoring and apnea episodes is due to the relaxation of muscles that occurs. This relaxation causes tissues at the back of the throat and the uvula to collapse, which ultimately restricts the passage of air. In turn, this has an effect on your breathing during the night. Whenever a CPAP machine is prescribed for a sleep apnea patient, they’re given a large machine in addition to a CPAP mask. What occurs during the night time is that the patient wears the mask, that is attached to the machine. The CPAP machine forces air — via the CPAP mask — using positive pressure that gets delivered to the airway to avoid its obstruction and enhance breathing. In addition to improving breathing, the CPAP mask and machine also reduces snoring. Research on CPAP Effectiveness The research conducted on CPAP machines have largely centered on their effectiveness for reducing snoring, apnea episodes and other symptoms related to obstructive sleep apnea. When you consider the entire body of research, you may conclude the CPAP is perhaps the most effective treatment on the market for OSA patients. However, there are downsides as well. Researchers at the university in Tokyo released a study in a 2004 issue of Internal Medicine in which they investigated the patient’s quality of life, depressive symptoms and excessive daytime sleepiness both before and after receiving treatment with a CPAP machine. Before treatment with CPAP, scientists found that patients’ total well being was significantly linked to the ratings on their self-depression scales. Soon after treatment, however, self-depression scales reduced significantly as also did the excessive sleepiness scale scores. The researchers concluded that treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with CPAP improves patients’ quality of life by alleviating depression. Being treated with a CPAP machine at home also offers great benefits for ones relationship with a spouse or bed partner. Researchers at a university in Chicago, Illinois, published a 2007 study in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine where they examined the sleep of married couples, in both the laboratory and at home. The researchers measured both the husband’s and wives’ quality of life (QOL) using a unique self-report scale, and in addition they required the individuals to take a sleepiness scale. While the husband’s adjustment to being treated with CPAP was positive and also raised his QOL scores, the same was not true for the wives. Whether it was the noise from the machine or simply being conditioned to arousal, the wives’ QOL scores were less than the husband’s after being treated with CPAP. In other words, the husband adjusted better to receiving treatment with CPAP than the wives’ did. However, researchers conclude that a longer follow-up period is required in further research to determine if similar effects are seen.

Said to affect some 18 million Americans, sleep apnea is a common, and sometimes dangerous sleep disorder. CPAP (constant positive airway pressure) treatment is one system that has long been used to relieve the symptoms of this condition. By administering a constant, slightly pressurised airflow to the sleep apnea sufferers airway, the symptoms of sleep apnea can be alleviated to some extend. The CPAP machine uses a small air compressor to achieve this aim.

This positive airflow prevents the airway becoming blocked by over relaxed soft tissues, and ensures that air is available to the patient at all times. Many people do, however, find cpap a little uncomfortable. Symptoms such as dry throats and headaches can occur, and exhalation through the mask can be uncomfortable due to the positive air pressure. Luckily, alternatives to cpap do exist, and this report will consider some of the other options.

One of the most simple alternatives to cpap is the use of positional therapy as a non-invasive treatment. This is simply the act of changing the sleeping position of the sufferer to provide relief. There are a number of products that can help, from foam wedges, to special pillows and shirts that adjust the position that the sufferer can sleep in.

Gravity is the enemy during apnea episodes, when the soft tissues of the throat block the airway. By inclining the body a little, the tissues are less likely to obstruct the airway and the patient will sleep more soundly. This type of positional therapy is generally used effectively for obstructive sleep apnea. The Central sleep apnea form of the condition needs to be treated differently, as it occurs for different reasons. Positional therapy, although not effective on it’s own for central sleep apnea, can be useful if used in conjunction with other treatments.

BiPAP therapy is also used as a cpap alternative. BiPAP (BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure), like CPAP, creates a positive airway pressure to assist the sleep apnea sufferer to breathe. The great thing about BiPAP however, is that it monitors the patients breathing, and reduces the airflow when the patient exhales, making breathing a lot easier. So BiPAP offers an equally effective treatment to CPAP, treats obstructive and central sleep apneas, AND makes the exhalation process a lot more comfortable for the user. A win-win situation. There is however another type of sleep apnea, called complex sleep apnea. Both cpap and bipap systems are less effective in the treatment of this condition.

There is yet another treatment that is similar to BiPAP. This is called ASV (Adaptive Servo-Ventilation) therapy. Currently in it’s experimental stages ASV (Adaptive Servo-Ventilation) sleep apnea treatment is providing good results for complex sleep apnea sufferers. There is FDA approval for this therapy, but the scientific results were not widely published which kept the treatment on an experimental footing.

CPAP therapy is a good treatment for sleep apnea, but these alternatives can offer improved treatment with less side effects for many sufferers. A consultation with your health care professional can help you find the best results from your therapy.

Are you suffering from sleep apnea? I know it is hard to find a cure for sleep apnea because I’ve experienced it. I had suffered sleep apnea for such a long time for about 2 years. Day by day, it progresses to a more difficult situation. I can’t breathe properly and my sleep was disrupted. As time went on, I can no longer sleep at all and this affected my entire life. It brought all the negative things, from my family to my career. I’m often stressed up with small matters, irritable and felt exhausted often.

In order to do my job, I would rely on caffeine to stay awake the whole day. Depression made its way and began to look for appropriate treatments and remedies.

A lot of resources offer treatments for sleep apnea but then, most of them didn’t work for me. I’ve been thinking about having surgery but then, I realize that it is so invasive and I’m not that prepared yet. I consulted our family physician and was advised to use a device called CPAP which is a mask that should be worn while sleeping to enable proper breathing. At first, the CPAP device is great, but later on it became much more of a burden. When waking up in the morning, my face is all swollen and painful and it limited my positions while sleeping. I imagined myself wearing this mask for the rest of my life and the thought frightened me.

The second time around, I decided to look for more suitable cures and luckily I came across Cure Sleep Apnea Without CPAP which is an e-book authored Marc Macdonald who is an Independent Sleep Apnea Researcher which offers proven methods of curing apnea. The book provides good alternatives of treating apnea without undergoing surgery or using CPAP device. The e-book is availed at a low price of not more that so I didn’t hesitate and grabbed a copy for myself right away. I was confident because a full refund is offered in case I’m not happy with the results.

I saw some improvements after I began using the methods mentioned in the e-book. Some methods made some improvements while others didn’t seem to work. The longer I used this guide, the more I became aware of what treatments will help me get rid of sleep apnea for good. 4 months have passed and now I’m no longer using the CPAP device. Who needs it when you can stay free from sleep apnea for just a couple of dollars?

I can’t promise that this report will work for you because we are all uniquely created and may respond differently to treatments. But in my case, it did work, along with determination and time. There are several methods mentioned in the e-book so it may take some time to apply all of them.

If you are suffering from sleep apnea and want to get rid of it as soon as possible, then you need to decide now. Check out more about this report by going to http://bit.ly/GetCureSleepApneaWithoutCPAP.

Maybe it has to do with the last food intake after dinner before hitting the bed.

WHAT IS SNORING?
———————–
There may still be other reasons why the snoring comes at night. And also that it could have been only the way to release exhaustion unconsciously..It can actually happen anytime of the day as we sleep and not just at night. It is also told to be that a person’s air pathways can be larger than normal that it makes the tissues more probe to vibrate as compared to those who have normal sizes of throats.

TYPES OF SNORING
———————–
It leaves your mouth open and tends the throat tissues to vibrate as you inhale and exhale through your mouth. It could be that the back of the tongue is blocking some parts of the passage ways and causes the sound that produces the snoring. The size of the tongue or the position of the tongue when you sleep had to do with it.Snoring while sleeping any time of the day; this state however maybe a little more in question since the snores occur in any time of the day or night the moment you doze off.

More Info About How To Cure Sleep Apnea Naturally

MOST COMMON KNOWN CAUSES OF SNORING
———————–
Non smokers are not saved from this however.A person who intakes too much fatty foods and oily foods that can create a fat deposit around the air tracks and pathways will cause the throat to be rigid and thus constricts the air to flow..Sleeping positions and posture affects snoring. This is scientifically proven to be true.A person who is inclined to sleep flat on his back makes the throat very relaxed and tends the back of the tongue to block the air pathways and creates the snoring sound. It is in the genes.

CONTROLLED AND UNCONTROLLED FACTORS OF SNORING
———————–
ON FOOD
———————–
Do your best not to overeat any food especially dinner time.To avoid those that triggers is a big step to do.Processed foods are usually containing lots of preservatives and ingredients that you are not aware of.That tempting greasy and tasty foods should be not present on the dinner table. It is light on the tummy, and is very healthy too.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAINTAIN WEIGHT AND EATING HABITS TO AVOID SNORING
———————–
It should now be your responsibility to do this for your own good.Stay away from temptations.Psychologically proven that this method of self psychology to diet is very effective.By using smaller bowls and plates can help to let your self eat lesser than what you normally consume in one meal time.Be conscious of the amount of food that you eat.Cut on heavy dinners.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE SNORING SEVERE?
———————–
Be proactive and cautious of your health as you are the primary person who should be able to know if there is unnatural that is happening to your body. This will definitely lessen the chances of you to snore in your sleep. It you have one pillow, double it.Another is to limit or minimize your alcohol intake when it is almost your bedtime.

Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Each episode, called apneas. Some individuals stop breathing for brief intervals, however, when these episodes of apnea become more frequent and last longer, they can cause the body’s oxygen level to decrease, which can disrupt sleep.

Narrow nasal passages, enlarged tonsils, and obesity are factors that may contribute to obstructive sleep apnea. The condition may also be related to the use of alcohol, tobacco, or sedatives.

One of the most common signs of obstructive sleep apnea is loud and chronic (ongoing) snoring. Pauses may occur in the snoring. Choking or gasping may follow the pauses. The snoring usually is loudest when you sleep on your back; it may be less noisy when you turn on your side. Snoring may not happen every night. Over time, the snoring may happen more often and get louder .

The non surgical treatments include : -

* Behavioral changes
* Dental appliances
* CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure)

Behavioral changes are the simplest treatments for mild obstructive sleep apnea, but often the hardest to make. Positive airway pressure, the most widely recommended treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, entails wearing a mask-like device while you sleep that supplies pressurized air, which helps prevent the airway from collapsing. The most common of these devices is called CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), which provides constant air pressure regardless of whether you are breathing in or out.

A dentist or orthodontist can make a custom-fit plastic mouthpiece for treating sleep apnea. The mouthpiece will adjust your lower jaw and your tongue to help keep your airways open while you sleep.

Surgery

Certain types of surgery can increases the size of your airway by surgically removing tissues. The surgeon may remove tonsils, adenoids, or excess tissue at the back of the throat or inside the nose. Or, the surgeon may reconstruct the jaw to enlarge the upper airway.
