Insomnia and sleep apnea are directly related, and the combination makes it very difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Insomnia is the inability to sleep consistently, and sleep apnea is the medical term for a lack of oxygen while sleeping. The body tries to make up for the lack of oxygen by breathing heavily through the nose. This causes a loud snore, making it difficult for others near by to sleep, too!
In many cases, sleep apnea causes insomnia. While some sleep apnea sufferers do not realize that they are waking up throughout the night, they do indeed wake up frequently. The quality of their sleep is greatly reduced due to the body’s strenuous effort to supply itself with much needed oxygen.

Apnea may be a Greek word, that literally implies “without breath.” Folks who’re suffering from sleep apnea experienced breath interruptions frequently although at sleep state. It all generally happens 30 instances or alot more hourly throughout the evening and breathing breaks carry on for seconds, even minutes. Usual breathing sets in once again using a choke or snort sound.
A life-threatening sleep issue that desires instant awareness is sleep apnea. Many people in this problem encounters abnormal cessation in breathing that occurs repetitively inside a brief duration of ten seconds or much more. The pause inside the airflow is termed as the apnea, which ordinarily lasts for 10 seconds to minutes and may well manifest for five to thirty episodes per evening.

*THIS HAS NOT BEEN FULLY DIAGNOSED (I took a test online, it says i might have sleep apnea. I’m still gonna get it checked out by the doctor*
So, I think I might have sleep apnea. But, I also KNOW I have Insomnia. I know the two are related, but its not the usual. my problem isn’t that I wake up frequently during the night, my problems that I can’t frickin get to sleep till anywhere between 1-4 in the morning. This has been going on for the past year or so)
I definitely have experienced some of the symptoms of sleep apnea. Such as
# Waking up unrefreshed and having trouble staying awake during the day
# Waking up with headaches
# Waking up sweating
# Frequent trips to the bathroom during the night

i’ve had insomnia for little more then 6 months, wasn’t bad enough to get the cpap machine, well i came down with sinusitus about 5 days ago, and ever sence i’ve had trouble sleeping, like either i sleep a little or i dont at all.. dr’s perscribed me Zolpidem to sleep but that only let me sleep for a good 3-4 hours, they also perscribed me antibiotics Omixicilin for infection, and Prednisone for my asthma, wich the prednisone kinda made my breathing a little better so i thought i’d sleep a little better ( wich i kinda do but not a whole lot) and i’ve been taking that in the morning cause i know it can make you stay up. but i think this is causing anxiety too.. cause i kinda freak out that i cant sleep so i get all worried and stuff.. and i’m really tired i just want to sleep.. i’m getting a sleep study done soon so i can get a machine.. but i wanted to know what i could do mean time. it’s really starting to get to me.

I suffer from severe apnea as well as insomnia, I have a cpap which I find difficult to use, I have also went thru the surgery that is supposed to help with apnea but that made it worse. I have tried to use traditional meds like lunesta, but I become immune quickly but in the meantime, I suffer from memory loss and the like.

I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and insomnia came along with it. I cannot sleep at night and finds it precious to sleep during the day. My mother-in-law is freaking out because she thinks I intend not to sleep, plus, I told her yesterday after my monthly check up that I lost a pound. The reason behind that is that I threw up the morning before I went to see the doctor and didn’t get to eat at all.
My husband and I live with them (his family) and they’re all used to not sleeping early. I hear tv in my room, i hear doors opening and closing, i hear footsteps and i hear them talk sometimes. I can’t do anything about it because it’s what they’re used to and it’s their house. Plus, my husband has sleep apnea so he snores when he sleeps.
I feel so bad. What do I do? I don’t ike them thinking that do not care for my baby by staying up at night and not sleeping at all. What I don’t like more is that some other relatives get to know that, too, which I find not so nice. I just cannot sleep, that’s it. They should know that pregnant women experience insomnia and not accuse me of being irresponsible. SIGH

I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. And I’ve had two surgeries to try to correct this problem in the past year with little success. I’ve had my upper and lower jaw broken and moved forward, and my tonsils removed all within a year. I’m not overweight and I eat a very healthy diet with almost no caffeine. I’ve had no improvement with the CPAP machine (which in my opinion is always leaking and waking me up) and have tried 4 different masks so far. After my last surgery, while in the hospital recovering I had continued apnea episodes. Plus, having insomnia has got me so sleep deprived I can’t think straight. I’m scared of getting into relationships because of being tired all the time, and I even blame myself for missing out on most of my son’s life due to this. I’m depressed, can’t work anymore and don’t know what to do? My doctor will not prescribe a sleep medicine for me probably due to the apnea.
