Sleep apnea can be considered a nuisance for a person who is suffering from it. The individual is denied of a quality sleep that is required to deal with the daily chores of modern life. It is a progressive sleep disorder in which a person frequently stops breathing during his or her sleep. These regular interruptions arouse the person from sleep and they restart breathing only after waking from the sleeping state. The duration for which the person stops breathing is known as apnea and it is a continuous process. Sleep apnea solutions are available to cure this disease. Sleep apnea is found in three forms. These are the following:
Obstructive – It is most commonly found among people. It is caused by a disruption within the airways. The effort of the respiratory system is of no help in this form of apnea.
Complex or Mixed
Central – It is very rare among individuals. This sleep apnea is caused by errors in brain signals. The lungs do not receive signals of breathing clearly and thus the person stops breathing. Read the rest of this entry

Sleep Apnea is a sleep disorder found in a large part of the US population, and is said to affect around 18 million people. CPAP (constant positive airway pressure) is a treatment that is regularly used to manage the disorder. The CPAP system makes use of a small air compressor to provide a constant, pressurised airflow to the sufferers airway. This helps lessen the sleep apnea symptoms.
The cpap therapy works by providing a pressurised airflow to the airway, reducing the chances of a apnea episode occurring by the soft tissues of the throat and soft palate collapsing and causing an obstruction. The pressurised mask can sometimes make exhalation a little uncomfortable, and some patients report headaches and throat soreness when using the treatment. There are however, many cpap alternatives, and we will take a look at some alternative solutions that may be of use to the sleep apnea patient.

I have a lot of the common symptoms of sleep apnea: I snore, I wake up tired, I’m tired and/or groggy all day, I could honestly sleep for 12 hours straight if the alarm didn’t wake me up, and I usually wake up with a headache. The trouble is, I have no insurance and little money to spend on a doctor. I mean, truthfully, my income is very fixed and I couldn’t afford anything more than a few hundred dollars for this. It’s depressing. I’m always told I’m lazy, but the truth is, I’m always really tired. Is there anything I can do on my own to help this? At least for another year or two until I can get a job with insurance (I’m a college student ATM). Thanks in advance.
Please, read my question before posting an answer. If I had the thousand bucks to spend on a sleep study and CPAP machine, I WOULD. But I don’t. So I guess I’m just out of luck

I get up a lot to pee at night. I wake up gasping for air. I snore until I wake up gasping for air. I’m exhausted daily…. but I also seem to get itchy down there every night too.. is that a sleep apnea symptom???
